Production History

Diamond Girl underwent nine months of development that included a world premiere at the Middleton Performing Arts Center and encore performances at the Bartell Theatre in Madison, WI . It will be making its NYC premiere in due course.


Rita Chase, an employee at a fashionable jewelry boutique, has just been dumped by her boyfriend. To buoy her sagging spirits a fellow employee coaxes her into trying on a stunning diamond necklace. The necklace has the desired effect, but proves impossible to remove and makes Rita irresistible to every man she meets---except for her scholarly stepfather who is obsessed with finding the lost plays of Euripides. Soon she has more men chasing her than she knows what to do with. Inundated by these besotted men it looks like Rita is in dire straits, but her co-worker discovers something about the necklace, and she has a plan worthy of any Fairy Godmother.
